WWW Wednesday | 2 Nov 2020

Hi everyone! I’m participating in WWW Wednesday again today, which was originally hosted at Daily Rhythm and has been revived by Taking on a World of Words.

The three Ws to be answered are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1)
The Mime Order (The Bone Season, #2)

I’ve literally just finished The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon last night, and I think I will move straight on to the second book in the series – The Mime Order – tonight.

The Bone Season is a dystopian novel set in the future, where England is a republic ruled by Scion and where clairvoyant’s exist and are sent to their deaths under Scion law. Paige is a clairvoyant and a member of the Syndicate – the underground voyant gangs in London. In the first book, she is captured, and instead of being sent to her death in the Tower, she is sent to Oxford (a city she thought destroyed), where she finds out there is more to fear than just the Scion government.

I’m excited to start The Mime Order, and interested to see where the series will take us. Given that ‘mime crime’ is a term for the crime the syndicates commit and the book is called The Mime Order, I assume that this book will deal with Paige’s syndicate more, as we mostly just saw them through flashbacks in The Bone Season.

What did you recently finish reading?

Blood And Ash Series (2 book series) Kindle Edition

Before starting The Bone Season, the previous two books I’d read where From Blood and Ash and A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, both by Jennifer L. Armentrout (books 1 and 2 in the Blood and Ash series).

I absolutely loved these and will be posting a review soon! I’ve said this begore about JLA, but her books are so fun and warm and cosy – they instantly lift my spirits! From Blood and Ash was a re-read but A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire was new to me, and it didn’t disappoint!

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Song Rising (The Bone Season, #3)
The Magpie Society: One for Sorrow

After The Mime Order, I’ll probably move on to the next book in the series, The Song Rising. However, it’s possible by this point that I’ll want to take a break from the series, so my other options are potentially The Magpie Society by Zoe Sugg and Amy McCulloch, or maybe Sisters by Daisy Johnson. These are both on my tbr, so I’ll just see what I feel like! I spoke about these a little bit more in yesterday’s tbr post, if you want to check that out!

That’s it for me this week! What are you currently reading?
